What’s up April! At HLabs, we don’t just build websites. We craft digital experiences beyond web design that captivate, inspire, and sometimes… bring home some shiny industry recognition.

Over the past few months, some of our favourite projects have been turning heads not just with audiences, but with judges too — from the Webby Awards and Awwwards to ARDA Awards and even Vev’s Project of the Month. So in this month’s roundup, we’re hitting pause to celebrate the work, the teams, and the stories that made it all happen — and maybe even spark some inspiration for your next web refresh.

Here’s a look at some of our proudest (and award-worthy) moments.

HLabs hits the Webby spotlight

Often called the “Grammys of the Internet,” the Webby Awards honour the best digital experiences across the globe — and this year, HLabs is part of the celebration with three exciting recognitions.

We’re proud to share that we received Honouree mentions for:

  • 🌊 The Race Below with 11th Hour Racing, recognised in Sustainability & Environment. This immersive storytelling experience takes users deep into the racing world beneath the ocean’s surface, amplifying the urgency of climate awareness through stunning design and interactive elements. This site also won Honourable Mention on Awwwards
  • 🌀 The Unravelling of Space-Time with Quanta Magazine, recognised for Best Visual Design – Aesthetic. With illustrations that pull readers into complex scientific ideas, this project proves that smart can also be seriously beautiful.

But wait, there’s more...We also landed a Webby win in the People’s Voice Awards!

  • 🎧 This is How Maine Sounds, a collaboration with Atlas Obscura, came in 1st for Best Multimedia Storytelling. This one’s a journey through sound, story, and visual design — blending immersive audio with documentary-style depth to capture the wild, weird beauty of Maine. If you’ve got a thing for storytelling with soul, we think you’ll love it too.

Always racing in with awards

When strategy, storytelling, and standout design come together — magic happens. That’s exactly what went down with our F1 integrated marketing campaign for Hilton Grand Vacations, which just sped off with a big win at the ARDA Awards.

This high-octane project brought Formula 1 excitement to life across digital and physical touchpoints, and HLabs was right there in the driver’s seat — crafting a seamless brand experience that revved up engagement and results.

It’s more than a campaign. It’s a win we’re incredibly proud of — and a reminder that bold ideas (plus some creative fuel) go a long way.

In with the Digiday Awards

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve been shortlisted for our very first 2025 Digiday Content Marketing Awards for Panoramic Discoveries made the cut in the Most Innovative Use of Content category. Huge shoutout to our incredible partner Atlas Obscura and Lincoln Nautilus — onward and upward!

Project of the month on Vev Awards

Another milestone worth shouting about? Our collaboration with Red Bull and dual-discipline athlete Sam Hurley picked up Project of the Month on the Vev Awards!

From the bold storytelling to the high-energy motion design, this site captures Sam’s speed, strength, and story in one of our slickest builds yet. Our first Vev Award — and hopefully not the last.

What’s next?

It’s been a big season for the HLabs team, and we’re so grateful to our collaborators and clients who make this work possible. Whether it’s climate storytelling, quantum physics, immersive audio, or action-packed athlete profiles — we love bringing meaningful ideas to life online.

And while the awards are always nice, what really fuels us is the chance to keep creating great work that matters.
